I have tried many types of batteries for my HP Palmtop, such as alkaline, rechargeable nickle cadmium and so on. But the battery which I find most suitable for my needs is
Energizer High Energy Lithium Battery. They are more expensive than other battery types, but they give me about 35 hours of Palmtop use. They are definitely worth the extra cost and can even handle short fax/modem connections without dropping to a low voltage level to fast.

But please keep in mind that it's very important that you recycle your used batteries and specially lithium batteries. When you throw them in the garbage can, lithium batteries end-up in landfills, corroding and then releasing deadly toxins that can be traced in nearby water sources. We will all suffer from that- you to! So please recycle your used batteries!
